I’m very excited to present to you a new artwork: The Abstract Self-Portrait. Although I use this title to address my paintings, I thought it was necessary to appoint the artwork that brought this term to life. During my Masters I created this video and it has been on my mind ever since. I therefore enhanced the quality, adjusted the images and made the video ready for exhibiting.
The film emphasis on the experience of the (painting) process by transforming painting Say Yes When You Want To Say No #6 into video and sound. A color accentuates a tone and no paint implies no sound. With The Abstract Self-Portrait, I want to create new gateways through that process into that sublime in-between experience I’m searching for. The video continuously constructs moments of connections and contradictions between process and result, between painting and sound, and between myself and the viewer.
The Abstract Self-Portrait will only be shown at offline exhibitions with specific conditions including the original painting.
